This lecture responded to the chapter Whole Wounds in Peggy Phelan's book Mourning Sex, notably her observations of The Incredulity of Saint Thomas by Caravaggio. The lecture explored methodologies of engagement between theology, art theory and philosophy: responding to and elaborating upon the themes of redemption, substitution, trauma and tacit/bodily knowledge as explored in Phelan's text.
"The only philosophy which can be responsibly practiced in the face of despair is to attempt to contemplate all things as they would present themselves from the standpoint of redemption..." Adorno, Minima Moralia
